Montrose County is accepting applications from citizens interested in serving on the Board listed below. Historic Landmark Advisory Board – This Board was created to encourage protection and preservation of the architectural heritage of the County, document designation of a diverse array of eligible sites and provide authentic historical education and public awareness. The Board meets on an “as needed” basis, alternating locations between Montrose and Nucla to consider applications to Montrose County’s list of Historic Landmarks. Presently there is one (1) opening.
Weed Commission – This group promotes noxious weed control in Montrose County and meets on a quarterly basis at County Administration. There are currently three (3) openings.
West End Planning Advisory Committee – The WEPAC gives citizens of the West End a voice in the planning and development of Montrose County, as well as providing recommendations on the adoption and implementation of new regulations. There are several openings on this Board.
Montrose Memorial Hospital – Effective Jan, 2018, there will be one (1) opening on this board. Montrose Memorial Hospital is governed by a local Board of Trustees appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Montrose County. The Board of Trustees is composed of seven (7) individuals who reside in the County and is organized pursuant to CRS 25-3-302 and CRS 25-3-303 operating in compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. The group meets in the Board Room of County Administration once a month.
Housing Authority – Effective Jan, 2018, there will be one (1) opening on the Housing Authority. This group manages and operates projects to renovate rentals or payments for dwelling accommodations at low rates for persons of low income, as well as reviewing recommendations and information concerning the business affairs and policies of the Authority. The group meets at the Housing Authority Administrative Office, 222 Hap Court, Olathe, CO. Business meetings of the Board are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 3:00 p.m.
Airport Advisory Board – This group advises and assists the Director of Aviation on issues that will further inter-regional representation and cooperation necessary to enhance the Airports’ level of service to the public. Effective 12/31/2017, there will be three (3) openings on the Board.
Olathe Cemetery District – This Board formulates the policies and standard operating procedures to be followed by the District. The group shall fix the price of all burial lots offered for sale in the Olathe Cemetery. The Board meets quarterly and the day and time are posted accordingly. Effective 12/31/2017, there will be one (1) opening on the Board.
Nucla/Naturita Cemetery District – This group is responsible for formulating the policies and standard operating procedures to be followed by the District. Meetings of the Board are held at the Nucla Town Hall and are set on an as-needed basis and noticed accordingly. Effective 12/31/2017, there will be one (1) opening on the Board.
Board of Adjustment – This group meets on an as-needed basis to consider appeals as a result of zoning issues. Meetings are held in the Board Room of County Administration. There are several openings on the Board of Adjustment.
Region 10 L.E.A.P. Business Loan Fund Committee – The Committee has the responsibility to qualify, approve or deny loans in compliance with the applicable Federal and State statutes and approved policy guidelines. There are two (2) openings on this Committee.
Region 10 Board of Directors – The purposes and duties of the Region 10 League for Economic Assistance and Planning, Inc, shall be carried out in general by the Board of Directors, and more specifically, by its’ Executive Committee, and shall be construed as to having the purpose(s) as set forth in the State and Federal Statutes and program guidelines as amended from time to time: Intergovernmental Relationships, Planning, an Economic Development District and Transportation. Meetings are held the fourth Thurs of Feb, May and Aug, and third Thurs of Nov, 12:00 Noon, 300 N Cascade, Montrose. There is currently one (1) opening on the Board of Directors.
Colorado River Water Conservation District – The Board is a public water policy agency and is “the appropriate agency for the conservation, use and development of the water resources of the Colorado River and its’ principal tributaries in Colorado”. The agency pursues water supply and flood protection; water supply planning and finance; stream and lake protection, as well as conservation and drought planning for the State of Colorado. Meetings are held quarterly at the Hotel Colorado, 526 Pine St, Glenwood Springs, CO. Effective January, 2018, there will be one opening on the Board.
