COVID-19 UPDATE



ALERT!  2019 PROPERTY TAX PAYMENTS DUE 2020

With Executive Order D 2020 012, Governor Polis authorized the County Treasurers to suspend or waive delinquent interest that may accrue as a result of delinquent tax payments for 30 days.

The Montrose County Treasurer’s Office will not collect additional fees or interest for the 2019 property taxes due April 30, 2020, if paid in May. If additional time is required for payment, please contact the Treasurer, Rosemary Murphy, by email etreasurer@montrosecounty.net or phone 970 249-3565.

This waiver does not extend to accounts where the taxes are being remitted by a mortgage company through a taxpayers escrow account or by a title company as part of a real estate closing.



Montrose County Government is taking proactive measures to protect its employees and citizens and to minimize the potential consequences of the COVID-19 virus by closing all county buildings and offices until further notice. Welcome to the website of the Office of Treasurer and Public Trustee. This office is responsible for the collecting of property taxes and distributing the tax money to the entities each month. We are the bank for the county, all county money flows through this office. The foreclosures and releases of deeds of trust are the responsibility of the Public Trustee.

Notice to an Owner in Foreclosure


If your property goes to foreclosure auction sale and is purchased for more than the total owed to the lender and to all other lien holders, please contact the public trustee’s office after the sale because you may have funds due to you. C.R.S. 38-38-111 (2.5) (a).
