Property Tax Notices will be mailed January 19th, 2022. Tax notices should be received within 5 to 7 business days.
📌 DUE DATES
~First half taxes--due by February 28
~Second half taxes--due by June 15 or 
~One full payment no later than April 30
📌HOW TO PAY
~Payments are accepted by check, cash or credit-debit card.  The credit-debit card payment information is on the back of the tax notice.
~Mail payments to PO Box 609 Montrose, CO 81402 or 
~Deliver to our office 320 S 1st Street Room 106 (old courthouse) in Montrose
Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
If you need to drop off the payment after regular office hours, there is a mail slot in the door of the Treasurer’s office to place the payment Monday – Thursday  between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Welcome to the website of the Office of Treasurer and Public Trustee. This office is responsible for the collecting of property taxes and distributing the tax money to the entities each month. We are the bank for the county, all county money flows through this office. The foreclosures and releases of deeds of trust are the responsibility of the Public Trustee.

Notice to an Owner in Foreclosure


If your property goes to foreclosure auction sale and is purchased for more than the total owed to the lender and to all other lien holders, please contact the public trustee’s office after the sale because you may have funds due to you. C.R.S. 38-38-111 (2.5) (a).
